Reasons for Joining

Lynn Valley Community Association

The Lynn Valley Communication Association (LVCA) was formed in 1911, and we have a strong history of community involvement and leadership. We will be celebrating our 100th birthday this year!

The LVCA’s major accomplishments include:

  • A significant contribution to the planning of the Lynn Valley Town Centre
  • Active participation on the District’s Official Community Plan (OCP) processes
  • Key involvement in the renovation of Mollie Nye House and establishing it as a community centre
  • Helping the Lynn Valley Lions rejuvenate Lynn Valley Day and the Lynn Valley Day Parade
  • Helping to organize the grand opening of the new Library and the Lynn Valley Village Plaza
  • Helping coordinate the summer concert series in the Lynn Valley Village (3 years in a row)
  • Staging a 17 day long celebration known as ValleyFest (February 12 – 28, 2010)!

The main reason people belong to the LVCA is:

  • To find out what’s going on and what’s being planned in Lynn Valley, including:
    1. Insight into what district council may be thinking,
    2. Information regarding development proposals and initiatives, and
    3. Access to knowledge about vision and process.
  • A conduit for expressing views and opinions including:
    1. A chance to meet and discuss changes in Lynn Valley and North Vancouver,
    2. Debate the merits of initiatives, development proposals and planning,
    3. Provide input on challenges and helping plan for the future, and
    4. Have some influence on district council decisions and have access to district staff.
  • Be more involved in the community:
    1. Participate in community events and activities,
    2. Help make the community a better place for everyone,
    3. Give back to our great community,
    4. Meet new people and your neighbours, and
    5. Have fun!

You can just be a member at large, however to get the most out of it we recommend you get involved in one or more of the standing committees which are:
