Have you ever thought about volunteering with the Lynn Valley Community Association? We would love to have you join us! Are you only available in the spring? No problem! Want to put your name forward for a board position? Send us your name! Would you like to volunteer for a specific event? Fantastic! You’re interested in helping but not sure you’ll be available when the event comes around? You can sign up for a notification when we need some help and it’s up to you if you can help for that event or not.

We are seeking individuals who are passionate about the people and activities in their community and have excellent writing skills to help us effectively communicate with our residents. This would be a fantastic opportunity for a journalism or marketing student. Expected time commitment is 2 to 4 hours per month. The content writers will:

  • Assist with developing and writing content for social media, newsletter, and our website news posts.

  • Interview residents, partners, sponsors etc. as directed to uncover the details of a story or project and write articles based on the interview.

  • Proofread created content for errors and inconsistencies.

  • Create compelling headlines and content that will capture the attention of our residents.

  • Conduct community research for new content ideas to address potential gaps in the association’s current content.

The Lynn Valley Community Association is looking for a Social Media Manager to build and enhance our organization’s online presence and help us connect our neighbourhood through Facebook and Instagram.

This role is a wonderful opportunity to engage with your community and highlight the amazing people, events, and stories that make Lynn Valley a great place to live.

What You’ll Do:

  • Content Management: Create, curate, and manage engaging text, image, and video content ensuring a positive and engaging online presence for the Lynn Valley Community Association.
  • Community Reporting: Share updates about community events, local news, volunteer opportunities and inspiring stories from our residents.
  • Community Engagement: Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and reviews in a timely and professional manner, fostering a positive online community.

What We’re Looking For:

  • An individual who possesses excellent communication skills and a creative mindset.
  • Some familiarity with Facebook and Instagram (training will be provided).
  • A commitment of 1.5 - 2 hours a week to spread the word about what’s happening in our community.

We are seeking a volunteer web manager to oversee our organization's online presence, ensuring our website is informative, engaging, and easy for visitors to navigate.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage and update website content using our content management system.
  • Ensure the site is mobile-friendly and performs efficiently.
  • Monitor website analytics to understand user engagement.
  • Troubleshoot any technical issues that arise.

We are looking for someone with experience in web management or development and familiarity with content management systems (like WordPress). Your attention to detail and problem-solving skills will be crucial.

This is a fantastic opportunity to use your tech skills for a great cause and make a real impact on our connection to the community. You will collaborate closely with our communications team and/or board of directors and have the flexibility to work remotely on your own schedule, setting aside approximately 1.5 hours per week for this position and extended time when needed such as during the Parade of Trees event.

  • Lynn Valley Family Fun Fair   *Fall

In addition to these key events, we have our AGM and occasional All Candidates Meetings. These events have various moving parts from setup to take down, and everything in between that require helping hands.
