We did it again!

It’s official – we’re a sell out!

We are so excited to tell you that we’ve done it again and SOLD OUT of our available trees for this year!

And we couldn’t have done it without your sponsorship. With everything still in a cautionary holding pattern right now including our Lighting Ceremony, (maybe next year!) we weren’t sure what to expect but all of you rose to the occasion and we will have an amazing display that’s going to spread some Christmas Magic and hopefully bring a smile in a otherwise challenging time.

Have you noticed Lynn Valley’s new Street Banners?

You may have spotted some beautiful new street banners in and around our Town Centre.

LVCA spearheaded the project to replace the old faded and torn banners that had seen better days.  Three local artists Vicki English, Dana Irving and Duane Murrin were invited to submit their designs for consideration in the creation of the new banners.

Choosing a design was tough, but after much consideration and deliberation, the LVCA Board chose long time Lynn Valley resident Duane Murrin’s submission. His bold and colourful designs stand out on even the greyest of days and remind us how lucky we are to be living in Lynn Valley: a stunning “Gateway to Nature”.

We are grateful to the District of North Vancouver who provided funding for the new banners through a Community Building Grant.

It’s coming up! The Lynn Valley Community Association 2021 Parade of Trees!

Well, the pandemic made things challenging last year, but with help of volunteers, some creative thinking and the support from our community, we were able to install eighty (yes, 80!) decorated Christmas trees for the 10th Annual Parade of Trees in December 2020.

Lynn Valley Village was once again transformed into an illuminated forest of beautifully decorated trees and for the first time, we expanded onto the new plaza in front of Starbucks at Lynn Valley Centre where decorated trees added that touch of Christmas spirit.

We are very grateful to all the businesses, clubs, churches, organizations, families, individuals and schools who continue to support this event and bring a little magic to our community each year.

VOLUNTEERS!

We’re looking for members in our community who have an hour or two to give in helping setup and take down. If this is you, or you’d like more information, contact us at info@lvca.ca with the subject line “Tree Volunteer”

A Message to our Neighbours…

As you are no doubt aware, COVID-19 is a topic currently impacting us all in one way or another. Protecting our community is a shared responsibility at a time like this. While the threat to British Columbians remains low, the very idea of an outbreak can feel stressful.

Consulting a reliable source of information can be re-assuring, and we recommend you stay up-to-date with the latest news from Vancouver Coastal Health.

VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation has suggested some things you can do to support the well-being of yourself and others during this time:

  • Take care of your body! Take deep breaths, stretch or meditate. Continue to eat healthy, well-balanced meals, exercise regularly and get plenty of sleep.

  • Avoid excessive exposure to social media or sensational coverage. While being informed is important, it can be detrimental to your mental health to constantly take in stressful information.

  • Consider ways to find balance with activities you normally enjoy.

  • Stay connected with loved ones and continue to maintain healthy relationships.

  • If you have neighbors who are elderly or immune compromised, ask if they need anything and get it for them instead of having them go out and risk their health.

  • Fear and anxiety about a disease may feel overwhelming at times. By trusting the facts, sticking with the latest protocols, looking out for one another, and practicing good mental health habits, we can protect ourselves and our communities.   Take care of yourself and others.
